An innovative approach to mine site rehabilitation leveraging proprietary aerial seeding technology and patented biotech to accelerate vegetation growth to satisfy Post Mining Land Use (PMLU) compliance requirements with unprecedented efficiency. The purpose of this project is to rehabilitate a 70-hectare post-mining area within Saraji Mine in the Bowen Basin for grazing land use.
To overcome the complex challenges of post-mining rehabilitation in Saraji, we developed a tailored blend of organic nutrients, beneficial microbes, and moisture-retaining compounds—creating a microhabitat that jumpstarts germination and supports early plant development. Soil ameliorants are added to neutralise pH imbalances and replenishes microbial activity critical for nutrient cycling. Applied at 100 kilograms per hectare alongside a pasture grass seed mix, the treatment resulted in a lush, high-diversity grass cover achieving full ground coverage within just three months of seeding.
Our two-operator team completed the operation covering the 70-hectare area with undulating terrain in just three days, with more than a tonne of product delivered in one day. AirSeed’s proprietary drone delivery systems offer an efficient and scalable seeding solution—especially critical in challenging terrains where traditional methods fall short. The modularity in the payload systems and optimised flight path allow seeds and products of various shapes and sizes to be distributed evenly and efficiently. More importantly, our drone-based approach is a highly-scalable solution that significantly minimises operational risk by eliminating the need for heavy machinery and reducing human exposure in hazardous or difficult terrain.
